Evolve Displays Selects Dustraction For Upgrade

Dust extraction case studies

dust-extraction-unit-2With the increase in productivity, Director James Snodin decided new premises were required. This was also a good time to upgrade the company’s ailing extraction system, reduce the company’s carbon “We looked at systems from a variety of different suppliers that would cover our requirements,” James explains. “Dustraction’s proposal was selected from several possible contenders as being the best balance between performance, capacity and commercial value.

“They were faced with the huge challenge of getting the new system installed with minimal interruption to our very busy production schedule. I cannot rate Dustraction highly enough – their communication throughout the whole process was clear and thorough, those challenges we faced were met with professionalism and clarity, and we have ended up with an excellent system that does exactly what we require.”

Dustraction installed one of its Dustrax 4 Section No.27RV series filters. This is a tubular bag-type filtering/system, complete with an automatic shaker mechanism designed to handle an air volume of 12000 m³/hr. The waste is transferred into the end of the hopper section by the main floor-mounted Dustrax No.33PB DD 22kw ATEX fan set with the waste being discharged through the heavy-duty rotary valve air seal directly into a briquette or, alternatively, into a bulker bag. Both are fitted with high level indicators to switch automatically when the waste has built up below the rotary valve air seal. The briquettes produced are used in-house on hand-fired heaters, reducing both the heating bills and landfill charges.

This is located within the suction ducting to prevent a flame front from being transmitted along the suction ductwork back into the building should a potential explosion occur. All equipment supplied falls in line with COSHH/LEV and ATEX requirements.

“Dustraction has been in business for 75 years, we have a wealth of experience not just in the woodworking industry but all sectors where dust is produced,” says Steve Matuska, MD of Dustraction. “It was a pleasure working for James and hopefully Dustraction will give good service to James for many years to come, as we do with all our customers.”
